1) OVERALL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide psycho-social support to patients and families.
Offer confidential counselling for patients referred by doctors as well as people who ask for it spontaneously.
2) FUNCTIONAL and HIERARCHICAL RELATIONS :
Work closely with the MSF medical team in the field and responsible to the MFP hierarchically
Responsible to the Mental Health Officer for technical questions
3) PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES :
Counselling:
o To identify population with psychological difficulties and to conduct mental health assessment for patients.
o To provide psychological support/counselling to patients through individual and family counselling.
o To ensure follow-up.
o To collaborate closely with medical teams: mental health awareness, discussion of problematic cases, mutual referrals ( including externals ).
o To participate to on the job training and clinical supervision.
o To assess the need of therapeutic groups and develop accordingly when needed.
Give MH awareness sessions in the hospital
o MHP sessions though the specific material on the topics in collaboration with HPs.
o Conduct group discussions and psycho-education sessions when needed.
Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
o Use the client files for each counselling sessions respecting confidentiality.
o Update the database regularly and monitor data.
o Write the sitreps regularly for MH activities.
